"Oh Canada" Gifting Suite to Kick Off Golden Globe Awards' Weekend

The 2nd annual Oh Canada Gift Lounge returned to the exclusive The Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel the weekend of Golden Globe Awards, and offered nominees, presenters and celebrity guests Canada’s finest lifestyle products and services.

The inaugural Oh Canada Gift Lounge and Benefit Cocktail Party marked the first time Canadian products and services from Manitoba, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal have been put together in a single gifting suite, and welcomed a steady stream of American and Canadian filmmakers, movie and television stars, and journalists who stopped by to learn about and celebrate some of Canada’s most coveted artists, creators and manufacturers.

The opening night Oh Canada Benefit Cocktail Party, was  held on The Peninsula’s  Roof Garden to benefit the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, a brand new national museum scheduled to open September 2014 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. www.humanrightsmuseum.ca

When the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) opens, it will feature many exhibits about the rights of Indigenous people in North America and around the world.  Many of the Museum’s inaugural exhibitions will focus on Indigenous Rights in Canada, but as the CMHR grows new voices will be added to the galleries, such as those of the Indigenous women of the Philippine’s Cordillera region.
 

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is the first national museum in Canada since 1967.

With a host committee led by acclaimed Canadians: actress/writer/comedienne Catherine O’Hara and comedian/director David Steinberg, this special event featured Canadian entertainment, libations and cuisine, including the U.S. debut performance for 2013 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards CBC Rising Star Award-winner Bobby Wills. He was accompanied by Alabama Music Hall of Fame Walk of Fame bronze star recipient Walt Aldridge and Mike Pyle.

 Bobby Wills’ CCMA was nominated and Canadian #1 hit single, "Show Some Respect," co-written by Aldridge and Pyle.Wills has intention to donate half of all proceeds from iTunes downloads worldwide from January 2014 through December 2015 in support of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Highlights of the two-day Oh Canada suite included:
Hirschsprung's Community gave away T-shirts with the slogan “Shit Happens”. They serve as a forum for anyone with a family member living with Hirschsprung's disease. Hirschsprung's disease is a blockage of the large intestine due to improper muscle movement in the bowel. It is a congenital condition, which means it is present from birth.
