Macy's Glamorama Fall Fashion w/Sharon Stone, BackStreet Boys, Cirque du Soleil & more


Macy’s Passport Glamorama fashionshow benefitted AIDS Project Los Angeles at
 the Orpheum Theatre, with acts performed by the BackStreet Boys, Cirque du Soleil
& The Summer Set. Actress Sharon Stone held the opening speech.
 
Macy’s tour will conclude in San Francisco, September 19th with Sheryl Crow as headlining artist.

Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013” illuminated downtown Los Angeles with this year’s theme “Fashion in a New Light” at the Orpheum Theatre last Thursday, September 12th.

The star-studded fundraiser, which also visited Minneapolis (Aug.2nd), Chicago (Aug.9th), and will end up at San Francisco’s SHN Orpheum Theatre, September 19th as a closing date, with Sheryl Crow as headlining performer.

The show brings together musical performances, the best of fall fashion, and the most glam after-party in town for one exceptional evening to raise awareness and funds for long-standing partner AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

 


APLA has grown to become one of the largest and most effective AIDS service organizations in the nation, currently serving more than 11,000 people annually with first-rate HIV/AIDS care and prevention programs.
As a non-profit organization, APLA.org is dedicated to improv the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS disease, reducing the incidence of HIV infection, and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy.

                                                                  The agency was founded in 1982 by Max Drew, Nancy Cole Sawaya, Matt Redman and Erv Munro with the financial support of their community of friends and family.

On July 28, 1985, APLA held the world's first AIDS Walk, which brought in $673,000.
The Walk is now the largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser in Southern California.

Among the services provided by the agency are oral health, housing, case management, nutritional health, treatment adherence, and home health.

Starring in this year’s show was multi-platinum pop-powerhouse Backstreet Boys, a group that has brought wonder and delight to more than 100 million spectators in over 40 countries on six continents.They are ready to leave for a tour in Japan after Macy’s Glamorama’s dates are over.
Cirque du Soleil amazed the audience with elements from Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Also performing was Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest winner, The Summer Set, a five-member punk rock group originally formed by two Arizona-based brothers who started out writing tunes inspired by Jimmy Eat World and The Format.

 Devoted AIDS activist and award-winning actress Sharon Stone, who has been an integral part of Glamorama for over a decade, took the stage to share the state of the epidemic today and her compassionate call to action.

Sharon did the show’s introduction speech together with Macy’s director Terry Lundgren, and talked about how gratyfying it has been working with APLA, and replacing Elizabeth Taylor as a spokes-person:
  “There is now possibility for an AIDS positive to continue to live a longer normal life, without the fear of dying, she said.
“Macy’s fashionshow proves, that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to look fashionable”

Fall fashion 2013 collections featured on the runway included Calvin Klein, Diesel, Rachel Rachel Roy, Tallia Orange, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend Max Mara, and Macy’s newest Impulse collection Maison Jules.
Models’ looks were completed with make-up by MAC.

Following the show at the Orpheum Theater, the evening continued downtown at the illuminated after-party at California Market Center.

 Gourmet hors d’oeuvres were served by Joshua Whigham, Chef de Cuisine of The Bazaar by Jose Andres (SLS Hotel), included Croquetas de Pollo (Chicken and Béchamel Fritters), Chistorra (Spanish Pigs in a Blanket), Ottoman Carrot Fritters with Apricots and Pistachio Sauce, Wagyu Beef, Caviar Cone, and Liquid Olives.

The chicken and vegetarian paella, made from scratch, was the most popular dish at the general admission party ticket.

Guests of the party spun the “every-time” prize wheel in the American Express Lounge, and enjoyed specialty cocktails from Patrón Spirits, and danced to music by DJ Brandon Olds booth.
 
Attendees also had a possibility to have a consultation and touch up with a MAC Cosmetics expert before posing at the Patrón Photo Shoot booth, and Patrón Fashion Fortune Teller booth.

LUNA organic snack bars were offered prior to the show, and also had their own wall filled with a variety of LUNA snacks, at the after-party.
LA Times cotton Candy Cart was a popular dessert.
Everybody returned home with a pair of his and
hers "Fashion in a new Light" flip-flops.
